Our State Rep District (Strafford - New Durham)
Strafford's State Representative District, known as Strafford District 3, is comprised of the towns of Strafford and New Durham. We elect two State Representatives that represent both towns. In 2018, the Democratic candidates were former State Representative and Committee Chair Bob Perry of Strafford and Ellen Phillips of New Durham. Right now our state reps are all Republicans, so we've got some work to do in 2020.
Bob Perry
A Strafford resident since 1972, Bob Perry was first elected to the NH House of Representatives in 2006; through 2014, he served 7 years on the House Election-Law Committee. Bob is a retired Superior Court Stenographer of 30 years and a 12-year member of the Board of Directors of the Rochester Opera House. He has been a member of the Concord-based 501(c)(3) organization Open Democracy for nearly 8 years. Its mission is political equality for all through an open, accountable, trusted government free from the corruption of big money politics.
Perry remains concerned that there is currently no system of checks and balances to assure the accuracy of our optical-scan voting machines. He strongly believes that, in the age of Russian interference in our elections, such a system needs to be legislatively created.
As our State Representative, Perry would work to maintain our right to vote, consistent with the New Hampshire Constitution. He would sponsor legislation to create an independent redistricting commission to end "legalized voter fraud" that currently exists through gerrymandered geopolitical districts. He also would work for more green energy and green jobs; health care for all; and fair and equitable funding of public education.

Ellen Phillips
Phillips is committed to fair and equitable public education, as well as affordable health care for all. She campaigned for a Family Friendly Economy, which supports affordable childcare, paid family leave and a livable wage for New Hampshire families. Another priority for Phillips is providing strong support for veterans and military families.
