Blueberry Bake-Off Contest Rules
Thanks for entering our bake-off contest! Here's how it works:
Contestants bake a favorite recipe that includes blueberries, and bring it to the festival on the day of the event. Be sure to tell your friends and family, because everyone coming to the festival gets to sample and vote on their favorite dish. First, second and third prizes will be awarded for both adults and kids (age 12 & younger).
1. Bring your entries to the Waldron Store between 1:15 and 1:45 p.m. on the day of the Blueberry Festival. Voting starts when the festival begins at 2:00 p.m. Do not mark entries with your name, as voting is anonymous. But please do bring us a card with the name of your recipe (for example, Blueberry Crisp).
2. Fill out and bring the entry form, along with your $8 entry fee. Bake-off entry forms will also be available at the door on the day of the event. Note on the form the name of your dish and whether you are entering the adult or kids category. Entries in the two categories will be judged separately.
4. Both inexperienced and experienced bakers are eligible to enter, but all baked goods must be made in a home kitchen by an amateur cook (no chefs or culinary students) from scratch (no purchased baked goods).
5. Entries must be delivered in disposable containers only. Pans will not be returned.
6. Entries will be judged on taste, texture, and appearance.
7. Do not cut your entry for tasting. Baked items will be cut as uniformly as possible for the tasting and judging. Please be sure that your entry is large enough to provide 16-20 small servings to allow for all judges to taste it.
8. Contestants cannot fraternize with the judges or participate as a judge.
9. Voting ends at 3:30 p.m. Winners will be announced and prizes awarded at 3:45 p.m. Please try to be present for the announcement of winners.
Good luck to all our contestants!
Please note: Photographs taken during the Blueberry Festival will become the property of the Strafford Town Democratic Committee.
