COVID Statement
Your Town Democratic Committee will adjust to the existing scientific reality of "remain in place" to stay healthy. We salute the workers and professionals on the front lines who make "remain in place" possible. We will carry on the core function of a town committee: To do our best to encourage Democratic candidates to run for office, and to support those candidates all the way to the winner’s circle.
As with countless organizations, in-person meetings are wisely not being organized; instead, are being conducted remotely through various video formats. This will likely be the norm for several months, as the world awaits an effective vaccine, administered around the world, allowing us to consider COVID-19 another in a list of existing corona viruses, and not the dangerous, novel disease we have come to know and fear.
We exist in a world of increasing population and mobility. COVID-19 will not be the last pandemic to challenge societies and science. Despite disruptive gatherings by those individuals protesting stay-at-home orders being conducted across the country, funded by the DeVos family and other wealthy contributors, these orders remain the biggest ally in moderating infection, avoiding overwhelming hospital staff, and thus offering the greatest chance those infected will receive the best medical care possible, as well as minimize infecting others.
Sure to prolong the misery of COVID-19, in addition to Donald J. Trump’s equivocations, and state leaders being denied federal assistance, are the remaining governors who refuse to order a statewide stay-at-home order; and the protesters, who infect each other and will go back home and infect their friends, families, the general population, and then need to be provided medical care, perhaps at state or premium-payer expense.
