State Rep District (Strafford - New Durham)
Strafford's State Representative District, known as Strafford District 3, is comprised of the towns of Strafford and New Durham. We elect two State Representatives that represent both towns. In 2020, our Democratic team running for the House is Heath Howard of Strafford and Jeff Allard of New Durham. Remember, you can vote for both of these Democratic candidates in November.
Heath Howard
Hello, my name is Heath Howard, and I am honored to be running for State Representative in New Hampshire’s Strafford District 3. I live in Strafford, and have my entire life. I am currently a student at the University of New Hampshire majoring in Political Science.
I faced some tough challenges in high school. My athletic career came to a complete stop in 2016 when I collided with a large rock and broke my spine in a skiing accident, nearly paralyzing me. I was in physical therapy for months, learning to walk again, and when I returned to school, I was unable to participate in the sports I once loved. Luckily, one of my teachers nominated me for Boy’s State. The program served as a mock-government for high school juniors across the nation, and it helped instill in me the importance of government and broadened my horizons to becoming active in a different way. In 2018 after witnessing the changes in our nation, I was motivated to become politically active. I worked with Maura Sullivan’s Congressional campaign and interned at Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter’s District Office. I spoke with prospective voters, asking them what their concerns about the politicians I represented were, and used these opinions to help better the campaigns. In the process, I became trained to do both constituent services and legislative research, gaining a lot of experience along the way. I also am currently the elected Delegate-at-Large for the Strafford Town Democratic Committee. The road to recovery from my back injury has been painful, but it should be over soon, and through it, I saw that I needed to help make a change in the government. That inspired me to run for state representative. I have gotten a lot of support already on my mission for change, and I intend to remain active in the New Hampshire community to help make it an even better place to live! Stay up to date on my campaign by following me on social media. Want to help Heath?

Jeff Allard

Allard is Chairman of the New Durham Planning Board, a director of the Merrymeeting Lake Association, and a member of the Birch Ridge Community Forest Steering Committee. "I am running for State Representative for the Third District of Strafford County because Washington is so broken that we must take control of our lives and our futures. We need thinkers, achievers, and leaders in Concord. As a Conservative Democrat, I am a pragmatist who will support the best solutions to the difficult problems that we face. "I will work hard and support the citizens of our district to solve problems like property tax relief, affordable health care, and a stronger business climate with new jobs that pay more than a living wage. "In these contentious times, we need leaders in Concord who know how to get along. I can create consensus and work with all sides because only the solutions we implement together will endure." |
